Life and Death are in the power of the tongue
Proverbs 12:18 - They can pierce like a sword
James 1:19 - be slow to speak and quick to listen
Proverbs 13:3 - They can either guard you or ruin you
Avoid Gossip
Proverbs 15:4 - They can be healing
Proverbs 18:21 - They hold Life and Death
- Those who love it indulge in it
- Underlining message is to be mindful of what you say and how you say it - Message throughout is that what you say will directly affect your life
We are a speaking spirit, so what we say has to come to pass because He is in us. ( His very DNA is in us)
The very situation you are in could be because of something you have spoken into existence.
All these tell us to watch what we say and to think before we speak, that doesn’t mean we don’t speak, but only speak when it is backed and is meaningful, not just to fill space or hear ourselves talk ( to think highly of ourselves). Romans 12:3
Reckless words cause trouble, while wisdom lies in silence (carefully listening)
Intentional Speech = there is a time and place
Think of Esther, of how she kept silent until the right time, and when she did, the impact saved a whole race.
What you want your words to do
• Ephesians 4:29 - No foul or Polluting language; be beneficial to others
• Matthew 12:37 - Your words can declare righteousness or condemn you
- They will either cause you to blend in with the world or stand out and be set apart
How do you do this• Psalm 141:3 - You must guard your mouth
• Ask God to guard, and the Holy Spirit to remind you - He helps you.
How can we put our words to work for us:
Ezekiel 37 - Prophecy to the situation around you
- Speak life and declare the word of God over your situation
- Isaiah 62:6-7 - Bring God in remembrance of His word.
Speak his word
We know He will follow through on His words because we know one of His characteristics is that He is trustworthy (Hebrews 10:23, Numbers 23:19)
Hebrews 4:12 - His words are alive and operating
Jeremiah 1:12 - He fulfills His promises
To speak life into your life, you must speak the word. By doing that, you are reminding God of what He spoke and actively asking Him to bring it to pass. Basically, He said it, and now you are keeping Him at His word and asking Him to fulfill it.
What you put in is what will come out
- What are you feeding your soul, His promises and Word, or the problem and the circumstance? Luke 6:45
